What a typhoon day looks like

What a typhoon day looks like when work is cancelled and you shuffle around the house in your sweatpants, wearing slippers for the first time since last winter.

You drink coffee and read in bed for a while.

Then wander into the living room. 

And decide to make pumpkin bread.

Then drink some more coffee and re-discover that book that's been sitting on the end table for weeks.

And check your e-mail and catch up on NPR.

Stare at the wall for a while (Chinese zodiac calendar from Germany, postcard from Japan, Buddhist prayer card found on the street).

Make a chicken, chickpea and summer squash saute. (P.S. Most hideous counter tops ever. They're really unappetizing. Did you know that the color blue curbs hunger? It's a fact.)

And spend the evening eating, drinking and playing cards with everyone else who got rained out of work. Not the worst, for a Monday.
